What is usually the responsibility of the manager of foreign trade activities
In the USSR, all that was connected with trade with other countries is called foreign economic relations dealt with by the state structure, called the export-import associations. The concept of FEA in a modern sense emerged with the beginning of perestroika, the implementation of the new economic reforms and the emergence of independent commercial enterprises involved in foreign trade activities.
Work towards effective import and export of goods and overseeing all foreign operations in such companies began to engage in foreign trade managers. In different companies this position may be called differently: purchasing Manager, procurement and distribution, customs declarant, Manager import export, logistics Manager – the most frequently used version of the name of this post. No matter what is the position of the person who is engaged in the company's delivery of goods to foreign partners is the foreign trade Manager.
Duties of the manager of foreign trade activities
To carry out foreign trade activities of enterprises of various orientations: manufacturers of different kind of goods, trading companies, importers and exporters. Regardless of the kind of activity of the enterprise foreign economic activity management has a number of distinct functions that have to deal with any competent specialist in foreign-economic activity.
Marketing. Includes monitoring legislative norms of the States parties of the transaction, price analysis, negotiations, finding buyers, suppliers, manufacturers, planning of advertising campaigns and preparation of analytical reports on the import, export interest.
The planning and logistics. Analysis of the stock, drawing up orders, definition of terms of delivery, contracts with companies, forwarders and supply all necessary documents, as well as planning for profitability, taking into account all risks.
Custom. Work with custom includes: development with the subsequent introduction in the work of the customs and payment schemes, control over the transfer of funds, contracts with customs brokers, the organization of temporary storage.
In addition, the manager of foreign economic activity is engaged in registration of all permits, mutual settlements and control over the fulfillment of the terms of all concluded contracts.
Requirements for employment
The main requirements for the candidate for the position of the manager of foreign economic activity are:
- compulsory availability of higher education, economic or technical;
- fluency in English, and in some cases other necessary languages;
- good orientation in customs and legislative procedures of different states;
- knowledge of the computer at the level of an advanced user, sociability, initiative.
