How to effectively plan tasks for the department
Think over the technological process that is entrusted to your department, break it into several simple components, subtasks. Decide on the performers of each, taking into account such factors as the experience and qualifications of each employee, the nature of the character, and the importance and priority of each subtask. Consider the sequence of execution, schedule and those points on it in which the results should be analyzed and monitored. Try to take into account all the factors that may affect the quality and timing of the work and minimize their impact. Consider backup options, including interchangeability issues.
Allocate responsibilities. Try not to pull the blanket over yourself and give your subordinates the opportunity to prove themselves. Do not forget that the main task of the head is administrative activity. Disclaim the authority and area of responsibility of each worker, determine for each the set of authorities that he will have within the framework of the specific production task.
Limit the right of independent decision-making only to those employees on whose qualifications and experience you can certainly rely. In any case, the right to make the final decision, always reserve. Ensure internal interaction between all working groups in the department, assign responsible managers in each group. Who can solve all the issues among themselves. Agree that in the event of misunderstandings and conflicts, you would be informed. Maintain a balance between cooperation and rivalry in your department’s team. This is an excellent mobilizing factor.
Analyze and control the results obtained with the established regularity and frequency. Make full use of the manager’s tools that increase the responsibility and performance discipline of subordinates. Motivate them and be fair in the distribution of both penalties and material incentives.
