How to find a job in the cinema
In the movie "from the street"
The easiest way to get a job in cinema without a profile education is to look for vacancies for support staff. No film company can do without secretaries, managers, computer specialists, personnel workers. Of course, such work will be virtually indistinguishable from ordinary office activities, but it can be a source of useful contacts and connections, and, moreover, will give an idea of how the film industry works, from the inside. In addition to everything, even non-creative work at a film studio will allow you much earlier than other people to learn about casting, vacancies, courses and special events.
Another option to get in touch with the mysterious world of cinema is to take part in mass filming. People willing to be present in the frame, following the orders of the director, are required very often. In this case, it’s not worth counting on recognition, fame and celebrity fees, but as a one-off work, shooting in “extras” is quite attractive. It is best to search for announcements about the cast of actors in the "extras" on the Internet: invitations appear on the representative sites of film studios, agencies for the selection of actors, as well as in profile groups in social networks.
Work for professionals
If you plan to associate your career with the film industry, it makes sense to attend to getting a profile education. These can be courses in acting, camera work, directing education, or a sound engineer diploma. Naturally, before you go to study, you need to figure out which profession is closer to you, so as not to regret the time and effort spent. This can help open days that are held by educational institutions before the start of the season of receiving documents.
In no case do not neglect the composition of the portfolio. This may be amateur videos, training records or professional work. Collect the best of them in a separate archive that you can show to potential employers. Many film studios recruit staff not on a permanent basis, but on a specific project, and in this case, examples of your work will be able to play a decisive role in choosing your candidacy.
Finally, the cinema can be accessed from the "related" profession - literary activity. If you write easily and interestingly, are able to perceive criticism and make the necessary changes to your text, then perhaps the career of a screenwriter is a good choice for you, especially if a work that can be an interesting script is ready. Of course, in this case, you will most likely have to get a lot of bounce, but if your idea is of interest to the film company, then the work in the cinema is almost guaranteed to you.
