How to plan production
Building an effective planning system should be based on what you need to produce for the market, what is needed to produce that volume of output, what resources are already available, and what is missing. The answers to these questions will be the main points of the production plan.
This plan consists of several levels. Each of them has its own tasks, methods of achieving them, as well as the length of the period and the amount of detail. The most common issues related to planning should be outlined in the strategic business plan. He, as a rule, determines the position of the enterprise on the market in the future, in 5-10 years. The strategic plan gives a general idea of the role of the firm, the production and the desired result. These plans are reviewed every 6-12 months.
After determining the strategy of the company, they solve the problem related to the volume of products that need to be produced. To do this, establish how much material and labor resources it will take, which the enterprise already has (equipment, supplies, labor). All this is fixed in the production plan. However, the detailing in it is carried out mainly by groups of goods, in addition, the planning period is usually 1 year.
More specific volumes and types of production are set in the main calendar plan. It indicates not only the groups of manufactured goods, but also individual products, units, units. The calendar plan is drawn up in the immediate future for 1-3 months, and can be reviewed every week.
To produce goods, which are provided by the main calendar plan, it is necessary to ensure the material and technical base of production. For this purpose, a resource requirement plan is used. It indicates the approximate time of release of certain products, as well as the timing of the supply of materials, labor and other resources necessary for their production. It is coordinated with the calendar plan and is also subject to revision weekly.
At each stage of production, control over the progress of work is carried out, as well as the degree of compliance with the strategic and calendar plan.
