How to work in open space
Be prepared for difficulties. Office work open space can cause severe psychological discomfort. Of course, it has advantages even for employees: when all colleagues working side by side, easier to solve problems together. However, the disadvantages of working in open space for staff much more, and it is primarily the need to work in the same room with many people, among which can be and annoying colleagues.
Highlight the main irritants that take you out of yourself and interfere with work, and then try to find the most suitable solutions to the problem. Most likely, you will have to deal with high level of noise, inability to concentrate at work, unpleasant odors, irritating demeanor, etc.
If your company policy allows it, wear headphones, turn up the music and try to distract myself from extraneous sounds and concentrate on work. The fact that offices in the open space can get pretty noisy. This is not surprising: in the best case staff call clients to discuss business matters between them, etc. and in the worst chat on everyday topics, slurp, stomp loudly, laughing, etc.
Think, does it irritate you that other people work very close with you. If the company didn't care enough to build between workspaces mobile partitions, you may have to also face the problem of limited space. Try to mentally separate myself from my colleagues by a strong wall. Imagine you are in a mini account, and the rest of the people, though located close to you, but are on the other side of the wall.
Learn to cope with such stimuli as unpleasant odors which emanate from colleagues, the annoying manner of conduct of other employees, etc. Stick to two basic rules: to solve all problems peacefully and respect their colleagues, try not to consider them only as stimuli.
Try to install office simple rules. For example, when one employee needs to discuss an important project on the phone, is a friendly way to ask others to be quieter. Smokers can use special tools to remove the unpleasant smell of tobacco from his mouth, and for those who are used to eating during the day several times – use office kitchen. If you set the rules failed, try not to react to stimuli, and especially not to dwell on them.
