How to make a technical assignment
The writing of the technical assignment must be preceded by a meeting between the customer and the developer, at which the customer, with a maximum degree of detail, must state his requirements for the final product and give his description. After this, the developer, who possesses the necessary technical skills, should give a step-by-step description of the forthcoming work and formulate for himself those tasks that need to be addressed in the course of the project. At this stage, the customer must also be present, in order, if necessary, to make corrections and corrections. The closer the customer and the contractor interact, the higher the degree of mutual understanding and the less controversial the points or wasted time.
The structure of the terms of reference in each particular case may differ, especially in the development of this document in various technical fields. But in general, it should give a brief description of the product being created, its functional purpose, the concepts and terms used, all functional modules and their characteristics are described in detail. General recommendations on the maintenance of the technical assignment are set out in GOST 19.201-78 "Terms of Reference. Requirements for content and design. "
One of the mandatory is the section "General Information". It should specify the full name of the parties involved in the development of this technical project, provide information on the cost of the project, its timing and, if necessary, the timing of each stage. As a rule, most technical tasks include a section on the reliability of the product being created, describing the conditions of its operation, providing specified reliability, and methods for its control.
Try to ensure that the description of each task listed in the Terms of Reference is delineated, do not use abstract phrases and non-specific requirements. For example, such a requirement as "it should be convenient to work" is quite difficult to fulfill - someone will be comfortable, but some will not, as a result, disagreements will arise. In this document, it is desirable to specify those technical characteristics that are quantitative and that can be measured with a high degree of objectivity.
