How to become workaholics
A quick way to workaholism
To fill up the ranks of workaholics, to plunge into office life with a head, forgetting about everything else, is quite simple. It all begins with small delays at work, which are getting longer. Then there is a need to spend time in the office and at night. A passion for work can quickly develop into a habit. As a result, work for a workaholic becomes the first place in life, everything else remains behind: entertainment, personal life, family, recreation, social activities. There is no time for hobbies and other opportunities for self-realization.
Previously, workaholics were looked at with mild irony, but recently psychologists have come to the conclusion that dependence on work can be dangerous to health. Scientists around the world say that workaholism can be considered a disease. It can be safely compared with alcoholism or drug addiction. This ailment is attributed to one of the forms of neurosis, in which work is the only opportunity to achieve recognition and self-actualization in life.
The causes of workaholism
There are a lot of reasons for the appearance of work dependency. There are two main categories of people inclined to this. To become an inveterate workaholic is a risk for a person who aspires to always be ahead of everyone. It is a careerist who deliberately completely leaves for work, sets goals and tasks for himself, which he successfully implements. Personal life is pushed to the background, since the main and only priority in life is a career. Another category can be attributed to people who supplement the ranks of workaholics due to failures in their personal lives. By taking certain efforts, they also become successful, quickly climb the career ladder. In work they find consolation and forget about unsuccessful attempts to establish personal life. Only work is able to bring into life such workaholics harmony and provide the desired result.
By their excessive desire to devote themselves to work, workaholics do harm not only to themselves, but also to people close to them. Is it possible to get rid of this dependence independently? The first step to solving the problem is to recognize its existence. While the person, suffering from workaholism, does not realize the need to change his life, all efforts of relatives will be in vain. He should seriously
think about what is really valuable in his life. Work should take only the niche allocated for it, as one of the ways to realize oneself.
