Who is social work as a profession?
Social work is an activity aimed at helping individuals or whole social groups. Such work may be aimed at protecting, rehabilitating or supporting people in difficult situations.
Those people who want to choose social work as their main occupation (and therefore linked to a significant part of their daily life), you need to remember that this work is not only difficult, but often thankless. Unfortunately, the current reality is that social workers are valued by the state, to put it mildly, low, and earn you will, frankly, not so much. In short, this work is not to everyone's shoulder, especially if you live alone and have to support a family.
In addition, think about what social workers have to deal with different groups of people: orphans and children from dysfunctional families, the homeless, the frail elderly, the seriously ill, the disabled, refugees, former criminal elements. And not every one of these people would be greatly appreciated to come across what you will be doing.
Also in the course of work you will have to face the execution is not the most pleasant of duties. For example, if you watch the old men or bedridden invalids, you will need to wash and dress them, feed "spoon", to give medicine, not to alter the schedule, clean their houses and do for them what they do to make no longer able.
If you will be working with disadvantaged and former criminal elements, will need to constantly take precautions and think about your safety, because the reaction of these people on your every word or deed can be completely unpredictable.
Working with infectious patients (e.g. "consumptive"), you constantly need to think about how to exercise caution and not to pick up any disease, not only from your plant but also from other patients in this medical institution.
However, despite all the difficulties, remember that the profession of social work – perhaps the need in the community, and, selecting it, you will be of great benefit to the society. And those sincere words of gratitude that you will receive from your players (though not everyone will thank you), will be more expensive than any money earned.
