It is very convenient for students and those who want to earn extra money in their spare time in the evening. Third - lunch and dinner. Almost everywhere, waiters have the right to free meals. In large cities, the number of cafes and restaurants is very high, and you can always find a place where waitresses are needed, close to an educational institution or home.
In addition, in most cases, waiters are given a form that allows you not to think about the appearance. Also there is an opportunity to earn money in excess of salary, getting tips from satisfied customers.
In the job, the waitress has enough advantages to choose this profession as the first job, additional earnings or work-earnings while studying. But there are significant disadvantages in it, which should not be forgotten.
Disadvantages of working as a waitress
There are several shortcomings in the work of the waitress. First, the lack of career growth. Very rarely, ordinary waitresses without higher education and vast work experience get promoted. The second is constant communication with people who are not always friendly. All remarks - about poorly prepared dishes, about a non-working air-conditioner or the absence of a certain grade of wine or beer, one has to listen to the waitress. However, she has no right to raise her voice or show discontent. Its task is to calm the client in every way and try to fulfill his wish.
The third significant drawback is that work usually ends very late, you have to come to a cafe or restaurant on holidays and weekends. At the same time, payment goes as for a normal working day, without an increase factor. All because waitresses often work in shifts, which excludes surcharges for going out on holidays and weekends.
Fourth - the official salary of a waitress is often not too high, since a certain percentage of profit is paid by a tip. This means that all payments due to illness or withdrawal to the decree will be minimal. And if during work there is an opportunity to receive decent money, qualitatively serving customers and getting a good tip, then there is a "bare" salary. Fifth - with a large stream of customers waitresses have to spend on their feet the whole work shift. This is quite difficult, considering that very often they have to wear shoes with heels.
The profession of a waitress is quite suitable for a temporary place of work. But, considering all the disadvantages, it is not worth considering as a permanent source of income.
